The Parents League of New York http://www.parentsleague.org is a not-for-profit membership organization of Independent Schools and families, started in 1913. The Parents League is affiliated with 300 independent schools, including New York City preschools, K-12 Day Schools, and boarding schools in the U.S. and abroad.

The Parents League of New York’s advisory service offers an unbiased review of all their affiliated independent schools. They work hard to establish common vacation dates, testing standards, admission information and notification dates, parenting education and resources. Membership is available to anyone who is looking for parenting resources and information about independent schools. Membership includes School and Summer Advisory Services, publications and online searchable databases, workshops, forums, and resource files.

Members of the Parents League enjoy a wide variety of benefits. School advisors are available to consult with parents, by appointment, regarding preschool programs, day schools, boarding schools, and programs for children with special needs

One of their most valued publications is Parents League Guide to Preschools, a comprehensive guide to over 450 preschools in New York City. Another is, Parents League Review, a literary journal published annually with articles about parenting and education by leading experts.

They are well known for their workshops and forums on applying to independent schools, the teen scene in NYC, the pressured child, music and children, etc. At their office, you can even find information on baby sitters and young helpers, family travel, tutors, and a bulletin board of current arts and entertainment opportunities

There are summer advisors available to consult with parents regarding, camps – day and sleep-away, trips – worldwide, academic programs, and teen-age opportunities.
