“Being asked to pay your fair share isn’t class warfare. It’s patriotism.”

Newark Mayor Cory Booker certainly set the tone for the Democratic National Convention this evening in Charlotte with those words. Booker drew enthusiastic chants of "USA! USA! USA!" These were clearly chants of enthusiasm from Americans, unlike the similar chants of bigoted Republicans trying to drown out the voice of one of their own.

Despite having a non-primetime speaking slot, Booker’s speech will surely rank as one of the most memorable of the evening, with Booker connecting the Democratic platform with that of the American Dream.

Booker closed out his speech saying, "This November with the reelection of President Barack Obama, this generation of Americans will expand beyond the hope, the dream, the promise of America," drawing chants of "Cory! Cory! Cory! Cory!"
