The NorthStar News video team for all of our political coverage is The Circle of Hope, a community-based not-for-profit organization co- founded by its CEO Jamal Spratley as an alternative for young men and women to negative influences in the Prince George’s County, Maryland area. NorthStar News Executive Editor and CEO Walter Fields first hired The Circle of Hope as the official videographer for a monthly public policy forum on Capitol Hill that Fields founded. From there the relationship grew and The Circle of Hope quickly became our permanent collaborators, covering events such as the Congressional Black Caucus Annual Legislative Conference and our huge community convention we held in Newark, New Jersey four years ago to coincide with the Democratic National Convention in Denver. Our work with The Circle of Hope is our ongoing commitment to the growth and development of young people in our community. Next month we will travel to Maryland to participate in a community media training event hosted by The Circle of Hope.
